So it’s Friday… and I really can’t wait to leave work, sit on my back deck, bask in the sun, and sip a cold one. I’ve been jammin’ to Joris Voorn all day so far, and realized we’ve never done a post on him. Its generally hard to post on the techno guys, as their magic really shines in multi-hour progressive sets…. I’ll do my best to do justice to this techhouse mastermind (You want real justice, put on his 9 hour set from amsterdam a few months ago, that’s right. 9 hours). For now, throw on his remix of British duo Goldfrapp’s Believer. Zone out, and you’ll find yourself grooving along effortlessly to the magic of Joris Voorn techno. My favorite of his recent work would have to be Spank the Maid. This track is yet another 10 minute progressive groovedown, it really gets nasty in the second half. He adds in a techy bit that really completes the track. He’s not afraid to remix a pop song either. His chilled out ballad-style edit of Lana Del Rey’s Video Games is a great song to watch the sun go down to. Last, I have to include an actual set. The post would be lacking without it. My favorite of recent times is his techno set from the Awakenings festival in the Dutchman’s home country. The set progresses from very minimal groove techno into a progressive techhouse throwdown. Loved his B2B set with Nic Fanciulli at EDC:Vegas, and this one brings me back.
